Fakhriati was born at Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan province, on March 25, 1961. She is the fifth of the six daughters of Bapak K.H. Mukhyar Usman and Ibu Hj. Masitah couple.
She completed her education at SDN Mawar Kencana Banjarbaru (SDN) in 1973, SMP PasKal Cimahi in 1976, and SMANi 1 Denpasar in 1980. She continued her study in English Language and Art at IKIP Bandung and got her diploma 2 degree in 1982. In 1985 She began to teach in SMP Negeri 1 Banjarbaru until now. Within her teaching time, she completed her diploma 3 degree in 1999 at Open Universty (UT) and a year later, in 2000 she completed her sarjana degree in English Education at Lambung Mangkurat University.
She got married with Agus Irman on June 29, 1981 and has got three sons, Yanuar Sofwan Hendarman, Irfan Syaugi Izzuddin , and Firman Multazam Azmi.
After finishing her master degree in 2004 at Malang University, she got back to SMPN 1 Banjarbaru. She tries hard to improve her teaching and her students’ achievement in English subject. She conducted classroom action researches entitled “Meningkatkan Pembelajaran Membaca Bahasa Inggris dengan Pendekatan Metakognitif. Alternatif pemecahan masalah kelas besar (Big classes) and the latest one is Meningkatkan Pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris melalui pertanyaan guru”. Besides teaching she is also active helping the teachers in SMPN 1 Banjarbaru to develop their ability in English. MGMP Bahasa Unggris Kota Banjarbaru is a place where she shares her problems and experiences in teaching.
